Is The Saga Coming to an End?

David Aubrey, Staff Writer

For 5 years, my family and I have watched the brand new Star Wars movies on December 26th for my sister Yaz’s birthday present (December 26 is her birthday, so make sure to pester her in the halls this December). We would travel to Wareham’s Flagship Cinemas for the comfy enjoyment of the new movie – Flagship Cinemas has the comfiest recliners of any movie theater). My father introduced Star Wars to my family when my sister and I were still little kids. Soon, Star Wars became our favorite thing to watch. Star Wars means as much to me as Han Solo means to Chewbacca. This year though, no Star Wars movie is being produced, but Lucasfilm and Disney have plans for the future. In 2023, the first Star Wars movie directed by a woman (Patty Jenkins) will hit theaters. This movie was inspired by Jenkins’ lifelong desire of being a pilot just like her father. Her father lost his life while in service, and this movie “Rogue Squadron”, will incorporate Patty’s feelings in a Star Wars movie.

Other entertainment in addition to  “Rogue Squadron” will be coming out in the near future as well. Disney will add-on to the beloved current series “The Mandalorian” with some stories from the same time period, like “Ahsoka” and “Rangers of the New Republic”. For all of the “Rogue One” fans, Disney did not leave you out. The series “Andor”, will be all about the rebel hero Cassian Andor and how he came to join the rebellion. The much wanted biography of Obi-Wan Kenobi will be produced as well.
