New Faces: 5 Things to Know About Mr. Flannery

Mr. Kyle Flannery

Hey there! If I haven’t gotten to chat with you yet this school year, you may know me as the guy who stands at the front desk when Mrs. Riddiford isn’t here. I’m Mr. Flannery and I’m the new Assistant Director of Admission here at Falmouth Academy. I’ve noticed that it’s difficult to get to know you all because I don’t have any of you in class, but I’m hoping as the year progresses that I can be more than a friendly face in the halls of FA. As an advisor of the publication, I thought I’d use the Chandlery as a unique opportunity to introduce myself. Here are six things you should know about me:

  • I was Born and Raised in Massachusetts. I’m originally from Sutton, Massachusetts, a small town right outside of Worcester. In school, I played baseball and basketball, was a part of three different bands and served on the leadership board of my student council.

  • I went to college in New York. After graduating high school, I attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. At Marist, I majored in Communication and minored in English Literature (come to me with your book recs, I’d love to hear them!) I was very involved in Marist’s Admission Office, serving as a tour guide, and student assistant, and I even interned for them during my senior year.

  • I’m Coaching Basketball for FA. This year, I’ll be the Boys’ Varsity assistant coach. I’ve loved and played basketball ever since I can remember, so I’m excited to take this next step in my basketball career.

  • I own too many hats. If you see me outside of school and I’m not wearing a hat, something is probably wrong. I have over 30 baseball caps, and you’ll definitely catch me wearing a few different ones to our home athletic events.

  • My Favorite FA Tradition is All School Meeting. Even though Marconi was canceled and I’ve only experienced a little over half of a trimester, there’s a special place in my heart for All School Meeting. My first All School Meeting was actually before I even started working at Falmouth Academy. I came to campus for my final interview back in March, and Ms. Knowles introduced me as a guest to the whole school community. It was at around 11:30 am on Friday, March 25th, 2022 that I knew I wanted to work at FA. ASM is such a quirky tradition where I have the pleasure of learning more about everyone’s personalities, interests, and class dynamics just by quietly observing in the corner of Morse Hall. So if you see me at All School Meeting, say a quick hello! It’ll make my favorite FA tradition even more memorable.

I’ve had a terrific start to my time at Falmouth Academy, and I am confident in saying that’s due to the supportive and friendly atmosphere created by the students, faculty, and staff. Thank you all for welcoming me so warmly, and I’m looking forward to many more conversations and memories with you all.
